Artist Bio

Kip Mesirow studied architecture and art at Los Angeles City College, Cal State Polytechnic, and UCLA. He founded his studio in Los Angeles in 1965 manufacturing wooden lighted sculptures. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1968 and opened his studio in Berkeley, adding the importing of Japanese carpentry tools to his business. He designed 15 buildings, built 6, and taught woodworking and furniture building. Copper was introduced in 1988 and has been a major source of inspiration to this day. In 2000, Kip relocated to Charlotte, Vermont.

About the Studio

Kip designed and built the Verdigris Copperworks Studio to meet his needs. It is located in picturesque Charlotte, Vermont, with sweeping views of the Green Mountains, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and boasts wonderful natural light. Over 1700 square feet of space houses a complete shop of sheet metal fabrication equipment, as well as Kip’s extensive collection of tools, which he began acquiring in the late 1960’s.
